STUDIO PROFILE

Studio RADA Architecture PLLC designs vibrant, resilient, and playful buildings, spaces, and objects. We aim to facilitate joy and delight in the people who interact with our work. We believe that a successful project is built on the foundation of collaborative relationships between clients, designers, and builders, and we encourage our clients to engage in the process. We respect the traditions of the built environment while we respond to the challenges of contemporary practice with modern work.

We design new buildings, additions and renovations for residential, commercial, and institutional clients. We make furniture and other objects ourselves. Current work includes an artist’s residence + studio, a mixed-use development, interior renovations, and assorted fabrication projects.

PERSONAL BIO

Nick Rada, RA | LEED AP

Principal, Architect Master of Architecture, Virginia Tech Bachelor of Science Building Construction, Virginia Tech

Nick Rada is an Appalachian now living and working in Rockaway Beach, New York. He grew up within the natural environment of West Virginia where he also learned the value of workmanship while making bread in his family’s bake shop. Later he pursued practical experience in various building trades before engaging with the study of building construction and architecture. Nick approached architecture through the making of objects in the college wood shop and was the recipient of the Excellence in Design Research Award for his work with plywood.

Prior to establishing Studio RADA Architecture PLLC, Nick’s architecture career progressed through making drawings and managing projects while employed with leading architecture firms - PBDW Architects, Baumann Architecture, and milktrout - and consulting with firms such as Stewart Engineering Services - all in New York City. Nick brings a lifetime of interest in workmanship and more than 20 years of professional making, building, designing, and architecture experience to Studio RADA Architecture. He has worked on a wide range of institutional, residential, and commercial architecture projects of various sizes, budgets, and complexities. Observing, drawing, making, and enjoying are foundational to his work. Nick still makes bread and works with plywood. When he is not in the studio or on a job site, he spends his time with his family or with the ocean, and as much as possible, with both of them together.
